Sensory Service

Sensory Service: Support for Students who are Partially Sighted or Blind

We offer specialist assessment and a wide range of support that is tailored to meet individual needs. Support is available during the application process and throughout the course of study.

Support could include:

  •   assessments to identify learning support needs
  •   one-to-one in-class support for note-taking, reading etc.
  •   learning materials in large print, braille or electronic formats
  •   provision of specialist equipment
  •   training in specialist software and equipment
  •   access arrangements and adjustments for exams
  •   guidance to course tutors and staff development about including learners with a visual impairment
  •   liaison with external agencies.

Sensory Service: Support for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

A highly qualified team of professionals are here to meet the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The team includes communication support workers (CSWs), and a specialist teacher/assessor.

Support could include:

  •   BSL communication
  •   note-taking
  •   language support
  •   Loop systems
  •   guidance to course tutors and staff development about including learners who are deaf or hard of hearing.
