Uni Buddies HE & FE Mentoring

Dear HE student

We are excited to launch the Uni Buddies mentoring scheme!

Could you mentor an FE learner? We’re looking for Higher Education students who can mentor a Further Education learner in their studies!

Applications close on Thursday 15th January at 6pm.

What is Uni Buddies?

Uni Buddies is a mentoring scheme that will match you with a Further Education learner to offer support with their studies and share advice and information on aspects of study and student life at university level.

What do mentors do?

As a mentor, you will work one-to-one with a learner over a period of four months, meeting every other week with your mentee. We will prepare and train you for the role and give you ideas and support with what to discuss with your mentee.

What is the mentoring commitment?

The mentoring programme will involve a commitment to take part in:

– Mentor training: where we will prepare you for the role

– Matching event: where you will get to know your mentee and their peers

– Four months of mentoring: when you will meet min. 8 times with your mentee

– Celebration event: where we will celebrate your mentoring achievements

What skills can I gain?

Mentoring can be a very rewarding experience, where you will be able to make a positive impact on other College students. You will have the opportunity to gain new experiences and skills, such as leadership and communication, which are highly desirable among employers.
