The first event in the Students’ Union calendar kicked off with a bang this week. The Students’ Union fair opened its doors at 11.30am on 12 September, welcoming learners from the five college campuses, all hoping to get more involved with the Union, sign up for extra-curricular activities and meet the teams who will support them during their time in college.
Success for the Students’ Union

The event was the first chance for Students’ Union officers and the Enrichment team to engage with a mass audience and sign up students for a variety of activities, including beekeeping, First aid and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.  It was also an opportunity for the Union to talk to students about the importance of becoming a class rep and making an impact on college decision making so that students have their say.

A range of fun activities were open to all along with unlimited portions of Domino’s pizza, popcorn, candy floss and slush. Liverpool restaurant, Rumi, supported the event with free portions of vegan-friendly curry and rice for all students and staff. The crepes were provided by Yogee of Liverpool and proved a very popular choice by all visitors to the event.

Entertainment on the day included a Disco Dome, which was a big hit with students who jumped in and out of the blowup throughout the day (this is a must have at the Union’s next fair!), large selfie mirror, popcorn machine – which filled the room with a sweet buttery smell – candy floss machine and slush maker.

A giant-sized Operation game was also a popular choice, along with Xbox Corner where students could battle it out on FIFA.

The Fair was a great success and provided students from across the campus with an opportunity to find out more about the Students’ Union and Enrichment teams and what they provide for students at The City of Liverpool College.
