Cut above the rest for homeless community
Barbering students from The City of Liverpool College took their talents to the streets in December to offer a range of grooming services to Liverpool’s homeless community.
The Hair2Care project, which is now in its third year, is the brainchild of former barbering student, Taja Rundle, who is currently studying for a Certificate in Education at the college’s Duke Street campus. She joined a team of level 2 and 3 barbering students who visited the YMCA on Leeds Street to offer hair and beard trims to current residents on the site.
This free service is offered at the centre on a regular basis, and meets with genuine approval from staff and residents on the site. It also provides students with vital on-the-job experience as they gain the skills needed for their chosen career.
