Students raise £500 for local cancer charity
Roy Castle Foundation received a welcome boost to their funds recently, thanks to a group of Business students from The City of Liverpool College.
The learners, all from a range of level 3 business courses across the college, presented the charity with more than £500 after taking part in the Roy Castle Foundation 50/50 Enterprise Challenge, which gives participants fifty days to raise as much money as possible using a fifty pounds start up fund. This innovative task combines the opportunity to organise a fundraising event with the chance to develop key business skills.
The team devised a series of fun interactive events which included a bake-off challenge, football tournament, pool competition, ‘guess number of sweets in the jar’ and a raffle, which tested the students on a range of abilities gained as part of their course, including managing a business event, developing teams in business, communication and time management skills.
The events took place over a number of days at different centres, including the college’s Vauxhall Road site where most of the students are based.
Our thanks to all students and staff who supported the events and helped to make the challenge a resounding success.
