Student chefs sweep the board in UK’s biggest cooking competitions

Trainee chefs from The City of Liverpool College swept the board recently at two of the biggest culinary competitions in the UK.

The team behind Duke Street’s Academy Restaurant – spurred on by their Executive Chef mentor, Ian Jaundoo – secured a total haul of forty-seven awards, including seventeen Gold and thirteen Silver medals from the UK Salon Culinaire and the Welsh International Culinary Championships.

Ian, who is also a Master Chef of Great Britain, said: “Competitions such as these give students an opportunity to showcase their skills in a high pressure environment, which is brilliant preparation for a career in the industry.”
