Media production students on a one year fast-track UAL course to higher education had a unique opportunity to meet renowned British artist Alessandro Raho this week when they visited the Walker Art Gallery as part of their induction into college.
The international artist gave students a presentation about his life and works followed by a question and answer session with the students after the event.
The visit, organised by media tutors Joanna Lane and Bronek Kram, was an opportunity for the students to broaden their perspectives about visual literacy and local cultural institutions.
Work by Alessandro, famous for his paintings of friends and family and whose work forms part of the Judith Rothschild foundation collection in New York’s Museum of Modern Art, has been shortlisted for this year’s John Moores Painting prize.
