College team scoop top prize in national Eco App Competition
A team of City of Liverpool College students took top prize recently in a national competition to create an educational app about recycling that would appeal to a mass audience.
Team EcoPoint, made up of students from the L3 Games Development course, beat off stiff competition from more than 500 students with their winning concept that provides details of all the different location points across the country where the public can recycle unwanted personal and household items.
The prize in the Eco App Challenge will see their winning creation developed and marketed by a leading design app specialist in a prize worth up to £30,000. The app will be developed for the commercial environmental sector
Recyclemania, the second college team from A6 Sub Diploma in IT who won through to the final, were amongst the top four finalists with their concept to create recycling app targeting young children.
Future profits from download sales of the app will be shared between the seven strong winning team and the college’s student union who provided funding for the Business in a Box Challenge.
